    I’m currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and hold a PhD in Music. With over 15 years of experience across the arts, academia, and technology, I bring a unique perspective that blends creativity and analytical insight. As a first-generation immigrant fluent in English and Mandarin, I strive to provide culturally sensitive care.     Hi, I’m Vanessa. I work with couples and families to strengthen connections, improve communication, and navigate life’s challenges together. My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate, and collaborative, creating a safe space where healing and growth can take place.

    Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade as a 9-1-1 Communications Dispatcher, supporting people through some of their most critical moments. That experience taught me to remain calm, empathetic, and present—qualities I now bring into my work with clients.

    I’m currently completing my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. As a Bay Area native shaped by my Latinx heritage and my family’s immigrant journey, I value inclusivity, cultural awareness, and connection. I am also bilingual in Spanish, which allows me to support clients in the language where they feel most comfortable.

    Outside of counseling, I enjoy family time, cheering at MLB games, gardening, and traveling.

My experience as a substance use and anger management counselor, along with advocacy work supporting survivors, shaped my passion for helping people navigate tough moments with honesty, care, and respect.

    My goal is to help clients feel heard while building practical tools they can use in everyday life. I take a trauma-informed approach and integrate CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and self-compassion to help you manage stress, identify patterns, and create meaningful change in a safe, supportive space.

    I have experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and I strive to create a welcoming space for clients of all backgrounds and experiences.

    I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where I double majored in Psychology and Sociology with a focus on equity and diversity.
